The main purpose of the Rolfing process is remodelling the human body’s fascia in the field of gravity and movement re-education. So we need to be able to do an accurate postural and movement assessment at the beginning and during the session. I need to have access to the skin as the hands-on work is more effective without an extra layer of material between my hands and your body most of the time. You also need to feel comfortable and be able to move freely.
Therefore for men I would recommend to receive Rolfing work in their underwear, boxer shorts, swimming trunks, gym or running shorts.
For women: traditional panties and a bra or sport bra are brilliant, however If you’re not comfortable and won’t be able to relax with this stage of undress, you can choose other kinds of clothing, for example a pair of loose-fitting gym shorts, or yoga-type stretchy shorts.
